A 16th century college converted into a boutique hotel
In the city of Modena is the Collegio Auberge hotel, a boutique hotel located in a set of historic buildings of the sixteenth century, which occupied a former college.
Refurbished for more than three years and opened in March 2025, directed by Esteva i Esteva (Spanish architecture studio) together with ArchFlorence (Florentine architecture studio), much of the structure of the building has been maintained and the Renaissance style and Italian aesthetics have been preserved. The vaulted ceilings, stone staircases, period woodwork, combined with carefully chosen furnishings and contemporary art pieces.
The hotel has 49 rooms, 28 suites and six grand suites, which preserve some of the original elements of the building, such as the restored frescoes and the coffered ceilings.
The hotel has several restaurants and a bar located in the former rector’s office, the Bar Bertelli, where you can enjoy a wonderful meal.
