An emblematic Parisian brasserie dating from 1880
Located in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Brasserie LIPP is one of the most authentic places in the French capital. A unique place with an atmosphere that perfectly reflects Paris, with a traditional yet contemporary aesthetic.
Lipp has always been among the favourite restaurants of Parisians as well as celebrities who have lived or travelled to the city. From literary figures such as Antoine de Saint Exupéry and Ernest Hemingway (who always booked the same round table in the corner), to artists such as Picasso, Matisse and Andy Warhol, and celebrities such as Kate Moss, Madonna and Inès de la Fressange. In 1960, Chloé held its spring-summer fashion show at Lipp.
Opened in 1880 by Léonard Lipp and his wife Pétronille, of Alsatian origin, the brasserie was a success at the time. In 1920 it was redesigned by its new owner, Marcellin Cazes, incorporating the characteristic tiles and painted ceilings that remain today. Choucroute has been served since its opening in 1880 and the current menu has remained unchanged for 60 years. The menu incorporates traditional French cuisine with high quality ingredients (working with producers such as Petrossian for caviar and smoked salmon, or Joël Dupuch for oysters). After three generations of the Cazes family running the emblematic brasserie, since 2002 it has belonged to the entrepreneur Olivier Bertrand who acquired it on the condition «not to change anything».
We share the beauty of tradition and places that tell a story. The importance of quality and attention to detail.
