A family-run winery in Alt Empordà
Surrounded by fields and nature, Bodega Perelada, named after the Catalan municipality in which it is located, is a family project led by the third generation of the Mateu family. High-quality wines and spaces that combine architecture and sustainability create a unique and different experience.
An old farm from the 1940s designed by Adolf Florensa Ferrer (Catalan architect 1989-1968) that now houses a tasting room, a restaurant, a wine bar and an auditorium. The new winery, which opened in 2022, has been built on the large ten-metre-high slope in front of the building. A project by RCR Arquitectes, 2017 Pritzker Prize-winning studio, which stands out for the creation of spaces that respect the pre-existing landscape by creating an absent architecture.
It was designed to form part of the landscape, half-burying the building and giving it a curved roof that makes it blend into the landscape. The entrance to the cellar goes unnoticed, as if it were the entrance to a cave. The darkness is reinforced with materials in dark tones. The spaces are illuminated by deep plinths that bathe the space in zenithal light. Perelada is the first winery in Europe with LEED GOLD sustainability certification, which recognises Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.

Una bodega familiar en el Alt Empordà
Rodeada de campos de cultivo y naturaleza, Bodega Perelada, cuyo nombre toma del municipio catalán en el que se encuentra, es un proyecto familiar liderado por la tercera generación de la familia Mateu. Vinos de gran calidad y espacios en los que se unen arquitectura y sostenibilidad, generan una experiencia única y diferente.
Una antigua granja de los años 40 proyectada por Adolfo Florensa Ferrer (arquitecto catalán 1989-1968) que ahora alberga una sala de catas, un restaurante, un wine bar y un auditorio. La nueva bodega inaugurada en 2022 se ha construido ocupando en el gran talud de diez metros de altura situado delante de la edificación. Un proyecto de RCR Arquitectes, estudio ganador del premio Pritzker en 2017, que destaca por la creación de espacios donde se respeta el paisaje preexistente creando una arquitectura ausente.
Se proyectó para que formara parte del paisaje, semienterrando el edificio y dotándolo de una cubierta curva que hace que se integre con el paisaje. La entrada a la bodega pasa inadvertida, como si se tratase del acceso a una cueva. La oscuridad se refuerza con materiales en tonos oscuros. Los espacios se iluminan mediante zócalos de gran profundidad que bañan el espacio con luz cenital. Perelada es la primera bodega de Europa con certificado LEED GOLD de sostenibilidad que reconoce el Liderazgo en Energía y Diseño Ambiental.
